Airports Serving Kyoto
Kansai International Airport (KIX) is the primary international airport in the area, and is located on a man-made island about 50km south of Osaka. Various train and bus lines connect the airport with the nearby cities of Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and surrounding areas.

Itami Airport (ITM), formally known as Osaka “International” Airport, is actually the primary domestic airport in the region, and is located about 10km north of central Osaka. Flights into Narita (Tokyo) must fly into Itami; but flights out of Narita into Itami are limited so layovers can last a few hours.

Flying into Kansai International Airport (KIX) is strongly recommended.

Transportation from Airports to Kyoto
Fares and times are approximate. Buses and taxis may be delayed due to traffic.

Transportation from Kyoto Station to Ryukoku University
Ryukoku University has three campuses — Fukakusa (where the conference is being held), Omiya, and Seta. For a map to the Fukakusa campus of the University, visit http://www.ryukoku.ac.jp/english/web/map/accessmap.pdf.

Because the municipal subway runs almost directly between the Kyoto Station, which is centrally located to the conference hotels offered by JTB, and the University, no dedicated transportation will be provided for the conference. To get to the Fukakusa campus from Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma (green) line subway south, exit at Kuinabashi Station (K14), and the University is just a few hundred meters straight walk to the main gate of the campus. Guides will be in place at the station to help direct you to the University.

Conference sessions will be held on the Fukakusa campus in Building Number 21, located at the main gate of the University. For a campus map, visit http://www.ryukoku.ac.jp/english/web/map/fukakusa.html. (Building 21 is number 13 on the map.)

Getting Around in Kyoto
Public transportation in Kyoto includes the subway, city buses, and trains. Visit http://www.city.kyoto.jp/koho/eng/access/transport.html for information about the city bus and municipal subway. Subway tickets can be purchased at each subway station with various discounts offered for multiple tickets and/or multiple day purchase.
